At the Bath JKD school Pete continually stresses (not pulling any
punches) that there is a clear-cut difference between facing a fellow
tournament player in the ring, and facing an angry attacker in the
street. What may be useful or fitting in a sport may be suicidal in the
street.
At the Bath JKD school Pete’s students are taught to protect
themselves against one or multiple assailants (armed or unarmed). Pete
sets up different situations and scenarios that may occur in the
street, and his students wear protective gear to makes things as real
and alive as possible.
At Bath JKD there is no sport sparring practiced since actual combat
in the street is not similar to tournament sparring. Street combat and
tournament sparring call for different training methods, as well as a
different degree of mental attitude.
Never forget the longer the fight lasts the more you are exposed to
danger, it is vital you end a fight as quickly as possible! Unlike
traditional and sport schools Bath JKD is strictly for street combat &
self-defence.
